Pitch covered for FA Cup Clash
With the weather forecast looking a little damp over the next few days BT Sport are ensuring Sunday’s televised FA Cup tie with Bury will go ahead.
Tuesday saw to whole pitch covered with a waterproof sheet. Later this week the cover will be inflated so there is no chance of the game being called off for a waterlogged pitch.
Dale head groundsman Rob Bennett oversaw the installation of the covers on Tuesday and he’s confident there will be no problems with the pitch.
“We have had the same cover for televised games before and it works a treat,” said Rob. “The pitch took a lot of rain over the weekend and on Monday and is a little heavy. It is still in very good condition for this time of year but the forecast of more heavy rain this week could have put the fixture in doubt.
“The installation of the cover will provide waterproof protection for the playing surface and keep the rain off. It will also allow air under the cover so it should dry out a little too.”
