Lancashire Hoping To Progress In Capital One Cup

11 August 2015

Olly Lancashire says Dale “couldn’t have asked for a better start” following the opening day win over Peterborough United.

The impressive performance saw Dale net twice and keep a clean sheet, something the centre-half was pleased with.

“We went into the game confident, knowing that we’d had a good six weeks of pre-season and everyone was in really good shape.

“The game went really well and we couldn’t have asked for a better start.

“The clean sheet isn’t just down to the back four and Lills [Josh Lillis], though, it’s the whole team. I thought we defended well, especially from set-plays.

“It’s something to build on and we obviously want to continue that against Coventry and for the rest of the season.

And Lancashire is hoping Dale can progress to second round of the Capital One Cup.

“It’s a competition that we’re going to take seriously and hopefully get as far as possible in.

“It’s a completely different game so we’ll prepare for that today [Monday]. Coventry are a good team and had a good win on Saturday against Wigan so it’s going to be a tough game.

“The lads are feeling good so hopefully we can get another win.

“Last year we obviously got knocked out straight away so we want to get a bit further this year, like we have done previously in the FA Cup.”
