Hill's Post Match Thoughts - MK Dons

3 August 2015

Manager Keith Hill has told Dale Player that he was happy with the second half performance In Saturday’s pre-season friendly against MK Dons.

Dale went into the interval a goal down after Dean Bowditch opened the scoring at Spotland, but netted twice after the break, including a stunning strike from Donal McDermott, to record a win in the final friendly of the pre-season programme.

“We were sloppy first half,” said Hill.

“We didn’t play with any tempo and we didn’t close down so I was disappointed at half time.

“I made changes, which got the desired effect, so there’s still everything to play for with respect to the starting eleven against Peterborough United.

“Donal deserves the goal because he has done really well in pre-season. I’ve been really pleased with him and his endeavours, so when he comes on and scores a goal like that then it’s superb for him as well.”

The victory was the third win over a Championship side, following the wins over Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town, but despite that, Hill isn’t carried away.

“It means nothing. The games are just preparation work and training exercises. Let’s see what happens when the bright lights, big city happens next weekend. We’ll see who fights and who flies.”
