Jamie Allen says “it’s a real honour” to have been chosen to wear the armband this season.
Speaking to www.rochdaleafc.co.uk, the midfielder, who was born and bred in Rochdale, said:
“I’ve been at this club for almost twelve years so to come through the youth system, to play in the first team and to now be given the armband is a real honour.
“Having the extra responsibility doesn’t bother me and I’ll take it in my stride. I know the lads inside and out and there’s a great team spirit amongst the squad, so I think that can only be a good thing.
“We’ve had a good pre-season and we’ve worked hard. It has been tough, but it has also been enjoyable.
“We've all gelled and we’ve played well together in the games that we’ve had. Results obviously mean nothing as pre-season is all about the performance, but hopefully playing well is good news for the start of the season.
“We want to start the season well and we can’t wait to get going now. We’re all looking forward to tomorrow’s game.”
