Jack Honoured To Be Named Amongst Club Heroes

20 April 2015

Jack the Kitman says it’s a real honour to have been named amongst the Football League’s 72 ‘Cub Heroes’.

The ‘Club Heroes’ accolade highlights the role played by staff at clubs throughout the League, whose work often goes unnoticed.  All clubs were asked to nominate one member of staff to be recognised for their loyal and dedicated service off the pitch, with Dale choosing Jack as a worthy nominee.

Jack, who has been working at the club for the last twelve years, will receive a special commemorative glass plaque to mark his inclusion in the list.

After Dale’s initial announcement on Sunday evening, the club’s official Twitter feed was inundated with congratulation messages, retweets and favourites, while Jack received text messages from former players and an ex-Manager.

He’s often referred to as Jack the legend, but he says he has no idea why!

“I haven’t got a clue what it is,” a modest Jack told www.rochdaleafc.co.uk. “I do my job and that’s it.

“I don’t see myself as a hero or a legend. In football, legends are people like Reg Jenkins and Stan Milburn.

“It means a lot to me, though. It’s lovely to receive such an accolade and for the club to nominate me in the first place.”

Congratulations, Jack!
