Eastham: Five Fights Between Now & The End Of The Season

13 April 2015

Defender Ashley Eastham says Dale have got “five fights” between now and the end of the season as they go in search of a top six finish.

Dale kept their play-off dream alive with a 1-1 draw at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, and with fifteen points still up for grabs, Eastham says that the players will be approaching the remainder of the campaign with a no fear attitude.

He told Dale Player: “You look at our squad and we’ve got such a young and enthusiastic side. We’ve come up against an experienced side today [Saturday], who have got players that have played at
Championship level and some Premier League clubs - it just shows that we’re not scared of anybody.

“We’re going to show that on Tuesday and really take on Swindon Town toe to toe because it’s going to be five fights between now and the end of the season.”

He added: “I think as a team we’re disappointed with our first half performance [on Saturday] because I don’t think we put our stamp on it like we have done in a lot of our away games.

“The Gaffer gave us a bit of a rollicking at half-time and I think you could see in the second half that we really came out flying. We’re possibly unfortunate not to win it with the chances that we had – Pete hit the post and he had a shot in the dying seconds of the game.

“Overall I think other results have gone for us. By the looks of it, there’s no difference [in the gap] to the play-offs, but we really need to look to kick on against Swindon on Tuesday.”
