Sheffield United: Preview

12 September 2014

Rochdale are back on the road again this weekend as they head to Sheffield United's Bramall Lane for their third consecutive away game.

Dale have no fresh injury worries ahead of the fixture, while the Blades could welcome back Craig Alcock who has recovered from injury. Stefan Scougall is expected to miss the match.

Keith Hill's side head into the game following the excellent 4-0 win over Crawley Town last Saturday. You can watch the goals on our YouTube channel HERE. Sheffield United weren't in action last Saturday after their game against MK Dons was postponed due their opponents having players on international duty.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's encounter at Bramall Lane, Hill told Dale Player: "We go there with absolutely no fear. I wouldn't say it's a free hit playing Sheffield United away, but there's no pressure on us. We're expected to go there and get beat comfortably.

"We'll go there and respect the opposition - I've got a lot of respect for Nigel Clough, his staff, the team and Sheffield United as a major power in this division. It's only a matter of years since they were in the Premier League, but we'll have absolutely no fear whatsoever.

"We're going into the game with a lot of smiling and enjoyment and hopefully we're smiling and enjoying it after the game too."

LAST MEETING AT BRAMALL LANE
Saturday 10th December 2011: Sheffield United 3-0 Rochdale

Rochdale's first trip to Bramall Lane in almost thirty years ended in defeat as the home side ran out 3-0 winners. A double from Ched Evans and one from Richard Creswell secured all three points for the Blades.

The day was over-shadowed, however, after a head knock received by Dale ‘keeper Dave Lucas left him unconscious for around ten minutes. Lucas received treatment on the pitch before being taken to hospital, where he recovered before making his way back to Bramall Lane before the end of the game.

Starting XI on the day: D Lucas, S Darby, BBM, D Holden, S Jordan, J Kennedy, G Jones, A Grimes, N Adams, H Bunn, D Ball. Subs: M Edwards, J Widdowson, A Tutte, JLAA, R Bergkamp.
