Manager Keith Hill says he would like to see every club in the Football League benefit from the international break.
Dale had a free weekend last week after their scheduled league game was postponed due to their opponents, MK Dons, having three players called up for international duty.
Hill has welcomed the break, labelling it beneficial. He told Dale Player: “It has been beneficial no matter what happens in the next phase of the season, and I think the international break should be a facility for every Football League club.
“It shouldn’t just be for the Premier League, the Championship, or elite League One sides who have three of four international players; it should be for everybody to take stock, to analyse, to be suggestive, or to look at targets they can set in the second phase of the season.
“I think the international break would suit everybody with respect to facilitating the possibility of having a winter break. The only people it’s affecting is obviously the international players themselves, but for me it would be warmly welcomed as a free weekend to re-stock, re-energise and go again.”
