Hill Is Supporting #BrandonsBeard

31 October 2014

Manager Keith Hill has revealed that he’ll once again be supporting the Brandon’s Beard campaign by growing a beard this November.

After last year’s successful campaign, Rochdale Football Club is keen to keep the legacy going.

Hill commented: “I’ll be supporting the Brandon’s Beard campaign because that shouldn’t be forgotten.

“Cystic Fibrosis has a massive impact on a lot of people’s lives and I witness it with Brandon, Chris [Beech], his wife Gillian and their family.

“They’re special people and Brandon is a special person dealing with it, so for me it’s quite simply an easy task to grow a beard. I want to continue supporting Beechy, his family and the campaign, because we need to continually make people aware of the effects that cystic fibrosis can have on families and the individual.”

Money raised from last year’s appeal went towards buying a special bed for Brandon to help ease the pain and discomfort suffered by the 11-year-old on a daily basis.

At this time last year, we revealed to fans that Brandon had developed liver disease due to his Cystic Fibrosis. Since then he has undergone a liver transplant, but continues to not let his condition get in his way.

Less than three months after his major operation, Brandon competed in the Children’s Transplant Games and hasn’t missed a Dale home game this season. A budding sport journalist, he spends most of his time in
the press box with the club’s Media Officer.

With Brandon receiving his special bed just in time for Christmas last year, money raised from this year’s appeal will go to the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.
