Rochdale rounded off an excellent week with a 3-0 win over Yeovil Town at Huish Park on Saturday, notching up seven points from an available nine during a long and memorable seven days.
After the point gained against Gillingham at Spotland, Dale went on to secure maximum points from two tough away trips – Swindon Town and Yeovil Town, something Manager Keith Hill was delighted with.
Speaking after the weekend’s win over the Glovers, he told Dale Player: “It has been an excellent week and justification for giving the boys the rest that they deserved [on the international break weekend]. We trust the players and they have been marvellous prior to that and obviously since then.
“The week has been a long week when you consider that we played Gillingham, then the journeys that we’ve had this week up and down the country – it’s a tremendous effort from the players.
“We’re not greedy but we wanted seven points, especially after drawing at home against Gillingham where I thought we thoroughly deserved to win the game. We dressed ourselves down after the Swindon game and got greedy. We came here to win the game and we got three points so it’s job done."
Hill continued: “On the journey down we spoke about enjoying a good week and making it a great week by winning this game.
“It’s a long week when you don’t have a midweek fixture and if we were to lose this game, or didn't get a positive result, then arguably the work against Swindon and Gillingham seems to be lost a little bit. It [Saturday's win] supports the great week that we’ve had and the tremendous effort from the players.”
