CEO: A Conscious Effort To Keep Prices Down

16 October 2014

Rochdale AFC’s Chief Exec, Colin Garlick, admits that he’s pleased to see the club receiving recognition for keeping matchday prices down.

Wednesday saw the release of the BBC’s Price of Football survey, which shows that Dale offer the least expensive day out across the Football League’s bottom two divisions. You can see survey by clicking HERE.

Speaking to Dale Player, Mr Garlick says he is pleased with the findings.

“All too often you hear about the Premier League and how expensive it is to go to there. So many more people actually go to Football League games and I think it’s better to have the focus on what’s affordable.

“However, the word cheap doesn’t do anything for me, I’m afraid. I like to look at it as though we’re bringing the better value. We’ve got the lowest prices in the bottom two divisions when you look what they
[the BBC] are assessing, so to come out on top is really good.

He continued: "Let’s not forget, however, that we’ve made a conscious effort to keep our prices down. When we set our prices we’re always mindful that people have got a choice and what we want to do is try to attract them - we’ve actually frozen prices for the last four years.

“To get this recognition, and for it to be highlighted by the BBC, both regionally and nationally, is really pleasing because it shows that the hard work and the thought that we put into it, is not only reaping the benefits for supporters, but also getting the recognition."

He added: “It’s also worth pointing out that the actual style and brand of football that we play is really attractive. We get a lot of plaudits for how we go about playing the game and that’s down to Keith, the players and the backroom staff.

“You’ve got to have a product to sell in the first place and we’ve got a fantastic product. Under Keith we’ve had two promotions in recent years, and we’ve gone into League One again and have started the season really well. It’s a big team effort from those that are on the pitch but also those that are of it."
