Barnsley: Chris Beech Pre-Match

3 October 2014

Assistant Manager Chris Beech has been reflecting on last weekend’s excellent win over Leyton Orient, as well as looking ahead to Saturday’s encounter v Barnsley, in his latest Dale Player interview...

Ten man Dale came from 2-1 down to record a deserved 3-2 win over the O’s at the Matchroom Stadium, and in Friday’s Dale Player interview, Beech once again praised the players: “I looked at the game afterwards and I thought that would have been game that we would have lost at this time last year.

“The way the players dug in and the way we re-aligned at half time to move to plan B to get something out of the game was brilliant - the players were brilliant."

He continued: "It’s a competitive edge that we really want to hold onto and the players understand that they need elements within every day to keep them ready for Saturday when it matters. Every day is classed as a development day to get better.

“Of course you’ve got to be mindful of the intensity of the matches and rest and recovery, but when we expect to go hard in training we go hard. It keeps it ticking over towards playing high intense football and that real physical hit on game day.”

Barnsley are the visitors to Spotland on Saturday and Beech is expecting a difficult encounter.

“All our concentrations are on Barnsley, which is our next challenge in front of us. Barnsley are a very good club, with good financial backing - they’ve recruited and they’re looking to recruit as we speak.

“We know that we have to be at our best whoever we play in this league because it punishes you when you’re not.”

The full interview is available on Dale Player.
