Logan: The Spirit Is Brilliant

3 November 2014

Conrad Logan has been reflecting on Saturday’s win over Preston North End.

The weekend’s game saw him keep his sixth clean sheet since arriving at Spotland from Leicester City, as well as making it three penalty saves from three, after keeping out Joe Garner from the spot.

Speaking exclusively to Dale Player after the game, Logan praised the team as a whole.

“As a goalkeeper you always want to try and keep clean sheets,” said Logan. “You don’t want to let goals in at any time so it was a case of trying to keep the ball out and fortunately I went the right way and saved it.

“We’ve been scoring goals as well and that’s three again today. It takes a lot of pressure off us [the ‘keeper and defenders], but I think we’ve been brilliant defensively during my time here. They’ve looked pretty solid and there haven’t been many games where we’ve conceded a lot of goals or looked in a lot of trouble. The back four has changed a little bit during that time, so it’s testament to everyone involved – those that have come in and the lads that are starting.”

Saturday’s win saw Dale rise to fourth place in the Sky Bet League One table. Logan was asked if Dale can continue to challenge towards the top of the division for the rest of the season, and he doesn’t see why not.

“I’ve said before that I don’t fear anyone in this league because the lads in there are as good as any team. And it's as a team as a whole because the spirit is brilliant. They’ve obviously brought it through from last year when they got promoted and it has continued this year. We’ve played a lot of the top teams, so I don’t see why not. We’re up there and doing and well so we’ll kick on and try to do it.”
