McGinty Looking Forward To Next Chapter

21 May 2014

Sean McGinty has been chatting to www.rochdaleafc.co.uk after signing a one year deal with the club.

The defender had been on loan at Dale from Sheffield United last season, and he is pleased to have made the permanent switch.

He told Dale Player: “I was here for about six weeks at the end of the season and I really enjoyed my time here. I’d like to thank the Manager for giving me an opportunity and for helping me move on in the game. I’ve left Sheffield now and I’m looking forward to going into the next chapter of my football career and the season ahead.

“Opportunities at Sheffield United were limited for me. I played a couple of games but with the Manager being sacked I didn’t really get an opportunity so hopefully I’ll hit the ground running this season, play a few pre-season games, start the season strongly, and help the team get as high up the table as we possibly can.”

Dale achieved promotion to League One during Sean’s short loan spell at Spotland, and it’s an experience he’ll never forget.

“I was round all the boys on the day that they got promoted - it was brilliant and I loved every second of it. It’s a great club and all the fans were behind them and I feel really good given the fact that I’m going to be a part of that this year.

“I obviously only played a little part, coming on a sub in the last five minutes against Bristol Rovers, but it [the day Dale got promoted] was a brilliant day. Having all the fans here and the moment that the score came through that Fleetwood had drawn was brilliant.

“We obviously had the player awards at night and I’ve never seen all the players and all the fans together like that before. Everyone was chatting about the game and the season, so it was a brilliant experience for myself. Being only 20 I have never experienced something like that before in my life so I was really pleased that I had made the move on loan and I’m even more pleased now that I’m here on a permanent deal.”
