2014/15 Kits Revealed

9 May 2014

Take a first look at Dale’s at our kits for the 2014/15 campaign

Following on from today’s earlier announcement, we can now reveal the first images of Dale’s first and second kits for next season.

A decision has been taken by the Board of Directors to move away from the stripes of recent seasons and to return to a kit more reminiscent of the design prior to our Centenary season. It was the season after the 2007/08 campaign that the club moved to black and white stripes, and then through several striped versions featuring large, small and pinstripe versions in blue and black.

The 2014/15 first choice kit continues the blue/black theme, with black mesh panels on the shirt – the socks are hooped in the same colours. The Board were keen to continue with the blue/black colours for next season, but to offer a departure from the striped kits of recent years.

The second choice kit has been chosen following the success of recent yellow kits, which are both popular with supporters and practical in avoiding kit clashes with opponents. Similar in style to the first choice kit, the Board have opted for a darker blue and a hooped sock making a striking combination.

The kits will be worn for the first time in our pre-season friendly matches and we will announce its arrival in the shop on the official website and on our social media channels.

They are scheduled for delivery in mid to late June.

Chairman Chris Dunphy commented: “The idea for first choice shirt started at last year’s training camp in Tenerife. They players had new training gear on, which was a vibrant blue colour and it looked really, really good. When we were out there at the time, the thought was that if we could get a kit looking like that it would be quite awesome and would look really impressive, so we’ve chosen something similar to that.”

Despite the change in design, the Chairman hasn’t ruled out returning to blue and black stripes next term.

“Although there has been change for next season, it’s not to say that we won’t see a return of the stripes either next season or in the future.”
