Dale's Youth Team got their pre-season off to a winning start on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Fleetwood Town at Hopwood Hall.
It was a young side who lined up against the Cod Army due to two second year scholars and one first year scholar being named amongst the squad for the first team fixture against AFC Fylde.
One under 16 started the match, along with five first years, three second years and two trialists. Four under 16s, as well as second year scholar, Dom Reid, who got on the score sheet, came off the bench.
Reid netted from the penalty spot, before Jack Stewart's 20-yard strike and Brandon Smalley's header concluded the scoring.
