Newly promoted Dale are looking to boost their Groundsteam with the addition of an Apprentice Groundsperson. The role is varied and the Apprentice will work under the direction of Head Groundsman, Oli Makin, and alongside Drew Duffy.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Groundsman to be based at Spotland Stadium, home of Rochdale Football Club and Rochdale Hornets RLFC. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen interest in groundsmanship.
Due to the nature of the role, the ideal candidate must be prepared to work outside and be physically fit and hardworking.
You will be helping to maintain and prepare the playing surface for football and rugby to an excellent standard to ensure that games can go ahead on schedule, as well as maintaining the surrounding areas of the stadium and training pitch to the same high standard.
Main duties include:
* Prepare Grounds for the team’s events and matches, both internally and externally.
* Prepare grounds for special events and external bookings requirements.
* Ensure hedges and fences are maintained to a high standard.* The safe use and operation of equipment and machinery used in grounds maintenance.
* Inform supervisor or, where appropriate, take corrective action on mechanical defects or breakdown of equipment.
You will work 30 hours/week, starting the working day at 8am, and must be flexible to work unreliable hours on match days.
Training will be provided in the workplace by Myerscough College where you will work towards an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Horticulture – Sporsturf – Groundsman.
