Rochdale's under 18s side hosted Bury on Saturday, with Billy Hasler-Cregg's first half strike enough to separate the two sides at Stainton Park.
Hasler-Cregg, who had featured in the first-team friendly against Bury one week before, was the man on hand to supply the goal and the first victory of the season, following last weekend's narrow defeat to Wigan Athletic.
His goal came after the play built up down the left-hand side, working its way into the box. As the keeper came off his line to close down the angle, the ball was cut back towards the penalty spot and past the desperate stretch of the Bury defender, finding Hasler-Cregg who was on hand to lash the ball into the open net.
The team head to Port Vale this coming Saturday.
