Shamir Fenelon Joins Dale On Loan

29 August 2014

Manager Keith Hill has today bolstered his attacking options with the addition of Shamir Fenelon.

The 20-year-old forward has joined Dale on a season long loan from Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion.

Fenelon came through the Seagulls' youth system, before signing a professional contract at the club in 2012.

He has since been on loan at Tonbridge Angels and Torquay United, making his Football League debut in January 2014 while at the Gulls.

Following a number of impressive performances during this summer’s pre-season schedule, Fenelon was handed his first senior start for Brighton and Hove Albion on the opening day of the 2014/15 season.

Assistant Manager Chris Beech says the management team are very pleased to have secured his services.

“He’s an attacking player, he’s got pace, he’s got strength and he’s setting off in his senior part of his career.

“He’s got some good experience after being out on loan in non-league and at Torquay. He has also had a great pre-season, earning his right to start in the Championship.

“We had tabs on him and he did that well for Brighton during pre-season that me, Keith [Manager Keith Hill] and Murph [first team coach Brian Barry-Murphy] were thinking that we’d be lucky to get him.

“They’ve strengthened their squad which has allowed him to come here on loan and we’re thankful to Brighton for that.”
