Cometh a new season, cometh a new name…
From this season onwards, Rochdale Football in the Community Trust will be known as Dale in the Community Sports Trust.
The change is to reflect the work undertaken by the Trust across the Borough, which goes much further than simply delivering football activities.
A recent Trust survey showed that over 30,000 people in Rochdale and the surrounding areas have taken part in some kind of activity offered by the Trust.
These include:
• Education programmes such as Futsal Scholarships, Employability & Personal Skills courses
• Health programmes such as ‘It’s A Goal’ project, Dale’s Swinging 60’s project, plus a range of different health priorities including Healthy Schools visits, as well as Obesity and Heart related issues with promotion days held at Rochdale AFC home matches
• Social Inclusion Programmes including Ability Counts, On Target and Rochdale Boroughwide Housing coaching courses
• Sports participation programmes including Schools Coaching Packages, School Holiday Multi Sport Courses, Tiny Tots football coaching sessions, Weekend Clubs, Goalkeeper coaching sessions, Birthday parties, Saturday Clubs for Dale home matches and Samba Dance Sessions
The Trust continues to look for other opportunities to grow within the Borough. If you have any ideas that you think will develop the scheme, then please feel free to contact Keith Hicks on 01706 643836.
