Rochdale v Torquay United: Hill

13 September 2013

Dale boss Keith Hill looks ahead to Saturday's game

Rochdale boss Keith Hill makes no apologies for the way his side took all three points against Bury last weekend and was pleased with the way his players stuck to the task in hand.

The first half sending off of Dale’s Peter Vincenti  changed the game plan somewhat, but once Hill’s side had the lead they were determined to keep it.

“The result was all that mattered on Saturday, spirits were high and it was very competitive and once the sending off occurred it was all about protecting the lead,” said Hill.

“I make no apologies for that because so many times we have been the victim of playing good football and ending up with nothing.  We had already achieved the end of the game result at half time, it was simply a matter of protection and it was beautifully played out by the players.”

Vincenti will now miss Saturday’s fixture with Torquay United but Hill doesn’t look at it as punishment for his side.

“It is an opportunity for someone now, there is no penalty for the team, it is an individual penalty.  For me it’s not like receiving and injury on a Friday and we have to look for an alternative, we have been planning since he was sent off.  I know exactly what I’m going to do against Torquay and I’m looking forward to it.”
