Hill: Always Going To Be Competitive

2 September 2013

A second half goal from Matty Lund saw Rochdale secure a point from Saturday’s encounter against the unbeaten Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium.

Manager Keith Hill spoke to Dale Player after the match.

He said: “I’m pleased with the performance and I think the points will take care of themselves if we perform like that. I think we’ve been a little bit hindered in the last couple of away games by the sending off and the penalty which was obviously not a penalty, so we had an opportunity today to show a decent reflection of our capabilities.

"We started showing the belief I know that the players have got towards the latter stages of the first half and obviously in the second half. Their goal for me was against the run of play, but I’m pleased with the response and the performance levels of the players.

“You can go one way or another and go under [after going a goal down], but I’ve got characters out there and I’ve got good footballers who try to manipulate the ball and who play the right way. There will be games when we lose, but we’re always going to be competitive.”
