Vincenti: I’m Expecting A Difficult Game

11 October 2013

Peter Vincenti reckons there’s still a lot more to come from Dale this season, but isn’t getting too carried away.

Reflecting on Tuesday night’s win over Port Vale, the midfielder said: “I would say there’s still a lot to come so I wouldn’t say we were back at our very best [following the defeat to Portsmouth], but it was a strong performance against Port Vale who are a good side and got promoted last year.

“It’s always a difficult place to go but I thought we controlled the game and I think 1-0 makes it look a lot closer than it actually was. It was good to bounce back from the disappointment of Saturday and we go into this weekend with a win under our belts.

He continued: “I know it’s a massive cliché but you’ve just got to take every game as it comes. The next game is the most important one and at this moment in time we’re looking ahead to Newport on Saturday. We’ll do our homework on each of the opposition, set up a game plan and go into each game trying to win.”

And Vincenti is expecting a difficult game this weekend.

“The Conference is a difficult place to get out of and you need to have a good squad so by the time you get out of it you’re well prepared for League Two. I think all the teams that have come up previously seem to have done well, so I’m expecting a difficult game. They’ll be strong and physical but we’ve got players who can put it about as well, so it will be an interesting game.”

The full interview with Peter is on Dale Player now.
