Hill: I've Reluctantly Let Him Go

4 October 2013

Manager Keith Hill says it is with reluctance that he has allowed Reece Gray to join Hyde FC on a month long loan.

The 21-year-old made the move on Thursday afternoon, but Hill told Dale Player that the young striker will continue to be very much a part of the Dale training programme during his time at Ewen Fields.

“It has taken me about three weeks to actually make the decision and I’m still not sure,” said Hill.

“Reece wants to go and play at Hyde, probably because he was successful there the last time he was there. He is going through a different stage of his development and his career to the likes of Callum Camps, Joel Logan and Jamie Allen for example, and he’s missed out to a large degree because of his injury.

“I don’t believe it is necessarily a good decision for Reece to be playing at Hyde, but over the course of the month it will become clear about what we will allow him to do after that. I’ve reluctantly let him go out on loan but trust me, no-one else will be leaving.”

Hill continued: “I wanted to give him a little bit of sugar and give him the chance to experience real men’s football again, but part of Reece’s remit is that he continues to train with us and if we have a midweek development game then he’ll be a part of that.”
