Hery Enjoying Life At Dale

18 October 2013

www.rochdaleafc.co.uk had a quick catch up with Bastien Hery this week to get his thoughts on scoring his first goal for the club and that goal celebration!

“I was very happy to score my first goal,” said Hery. “Everyone said that I could have finished with my first touch, but for me I don’t think I was going to score with my first touch and that’s why I took my time. Also, I thought Peter [Vincenti] was going to shoot but he passed to me so I was surprised!”

Hery celebrated the goal in an elaborate fashion in front of the Sandy Lane end and he explains what it was all about.

“No, I wasn’t playing the air guitar”, laughed the 21-year-old. “The celebration is an African dance that I do in France with my friend.”

Hery joined Dale in the summer following his departure from Sheffield Wednesday’s Development Squad and the midfielder says he has learnt a lot during his time at Spotland.

“Last season at Sheffield Wednesday I only played in the development squad so this is my first experience of first team football and I’m enjoying it. I have learnt more in three months here playing first team football than I did during one year with the development squad.”
