Hill: I Appreciate The Gesture

28 November 2013

As you may have seen, Manager Keith Hill kindly offered to auction off his Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month Award that he won in September for our Brandon’s Beard appeal.

Bidding on the item closed last week and the club received a late bid for the award from the League Managers Association (LMA).

Their bid of £750 was substantially more than any other we received, but not only that, they offered to present the award back to Keith, allowing the club to keep award at Spotland.

Olaf Dixon from the LMA attended Dale’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against Exeter on Saturday and met with Keith pitch side before kick-off.

Mr Dixon commented: “As soon as we saw the story we knew we wanted to support Keith and the club in their fund-raising appeal.

“The LMA is very pleased indeed to have been able to give that support and at the same time help Chris and Brandon.

“It is clear that there has been a huge effort by everyone connected with Rochdale to raise funds and the LMA is delighted to have helped with the added bonus of making sure that Keith was able to keep his Manager of the Month trophy.”

Manager Keith Hill added: “The trophy is special to me, the football club and to the players who I received it on behalf of. For the League Manager’s Association to get involved in what is Rochdale’s effort to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis and to raise money for Brandon’s bed is magnificent.

“The LMA do everything they can to support us managers and football clubs and I really appreciate the gesture as do Chris Beech and little Brandon.”
