Hasler-Cregg: The Best

8 November 2013

Billy Hasler-Cregg says his goal in Wednesday night’s FA Youth Cup win is the best he’s ever scored.

The youngster opened the scoring against Warrington Town, and his Dale account, in style with a stunning strike from 35-yards.

He told www.rochdaleafc.co.uk what he could remember about the goal: “I got the ball about 40 yards out, moved inside a little bit, took a touch and hit it with the inside of my foot into the top right hand corner of the net. It’s probably the best goal I’ve scored in my life."

He added: "I was obviously pleased to get my goal but the result is the most important thing in a cup game. We wanted to win the game, we knew we needed to win it and we did the job.”

Dale now face either Crewe Alexandra or Coventry City at Spotland in the second round of the competition and Hasler-Cregg is looking forward to the occasion.

“It’ll be the first time that I’ll have played at a stadium. It’ll be a tough game no matter who we get as they’re both good sides, but we’re all looking forward to it.”

The Youth Team make the trip to Merseyside this Saturday to face Tranmere Rovers in the league, and he says the focus is very much on getting a result in Birkenhead.

“Obviously scoring a goal and winning on Wednesday night is something good that has happened in your life and you should enjoy the moment, but we’ve got to put it behind us and get on with the game on Saturday.”

Saturday’s game v Tranmere Rovers has an 11am kick-off.

It takes place at: Ingleborough Training Ground, Ingleborough Road, Birkenhead, CH42 6RD.
