Dale’s Football in the Community Trust is delighted to announce that several players who have been involved with their ‘On Target’ initiative have now signed up with for their Futsal Scholarship.
The Futsal programme started in September and has seen 12 youngsters aged between 16 and 17 year olds sign up for the two year course.
The ‘On Target’ scheme sees the Football in the Community Trust deliver various sporting activities to 12-19 year olds at Kingsway Park Sports Centre and the Soccer Factory on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The Trust has also forged good links with Rochdale Youth Services, who have helped identify youngsters to take part in the activities and provide valuable input whilst they are waiting to ply their skills in the games.
The 'On Target' scheme has been made possible due to funding from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and the Football League Trust.
Head of Football in the Community, Keith Hicks, commented: “I’m delighted to see these kids signing up to our Futsal Scholarship and for me it shows the benefit of the relationship we have forged with Rochdale Youth Services as it proven to be a fruitful link.
“I’m also grateful for the funding and the support we have received to make this worthwhile initiative a success.”
