Rochdale’s unbeaten pre-season run continued on Saturday with a 2-2 draw against Championship side Blackburn Rovers at Spotland.
Dale had been in control for the majority of the game and had taken a deserved 2-0 lead thanks to the Scott Hogan and Peter Vincenti, however a 62 minute goal from DJ Campbell and a soft set-piece from Morten Pedersen with the last kick of the ball saw the visitors earn a draw.
It was a positive display against a strong Rovers side and Manager Keith Hill told Dale Player that is pleased with the performance. He said: “The end result wasn’t of any concern to me but I have no disappointment on reflection from Saturday. I thought for 65 minutes to play the type of pressing and passing game, and the retain and regain game that we played was great to witness. It was testament to the players and what they’ve tried to achieve in training. I was really pleased with the adventure that we showed and also the stability, the composure and the concentration levels.
“When you consider the two leagues that the players are in, I thought we gave a very good account of what we’re trying to achieve. We’re only in the early stages of developing this squad and this team but I’m encouraged by the way we’re knitting together.”
