Almost 30 schools recently competed in the preliminary rounds of the npower Football League Kids Cup, with one team progressing to the regional finals.
The rounds, which were organised by Dale’s Football in the Community Trust, were held at the Soccer Factory earlier this month.
After whittling the teams down from 29 to just four primary schools – Hopwood, Norden and two from St Vincent’s – the youngsters battled it out in their own mini league in a bid to book their place at the regional finals.
St Vincent’s ‘A’ finished top of the table and they will now represent Dale in the regional finals where they will play against other schools from the North of England.
The national final will take place at Wembley Stadium in May.
