Jones Can’t Wait To Get Started

Ritchie Jones is looking forward to his time at Spotland

Ritchie Jones insists he can’t wait to get started after joining Rochdale on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old midfielder left Bradford City last month after an 18 month spell at the club, and he’s looking forward to his time at Spotland.

“My first season at Bradford was a very good season but I was a bit unfortunate this season as I picked up and ankle ligament injury in pre-season that kept me out for a couple of months, so it was a tough start” said Jones who made five appearances for the Bantams before his departure. “I had a great time at Bradford but I've left there now and my focus is Rochdale – it’s a great club I can’t wait to get started and to play for the club.

“Keith [Manager Keith Hill] has had a big say in my decision to come here. He plays some great football with his style of play and I think it’s something which will suit my style as well. I’ve only been here a few days but the lads and the staff have made it easy for me to settle in, they’ve all been great.”

Ritchie is available for selection for the visit of Torquay this weekend and he’s raring to go should he be given the nod by the Gaffer.

“It’s games like Torquay at home that we need to be winning. We’ve had a tough week in training which has been really good for us and all the lads are really up for it, we can’t wait to get out there and play. If you can string three wins together then you’ll find yourself right back up there, so I think it’s a case of anyone can beat anyone on their day in this league and if we can get points on the board then I can see us moving up the table. I’m hoping we can get a good finish to the season.”
