Gillian Beech, the wife of Youth Team Manager Chris Beech, completed Sunday’s London Marathon in an impressive 4 hours and 12 minutes!
Gillian ran the race to raise fund for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, a charity which is very close to her heart. Chris Beech’s son Brandon suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and his everyday life is a constant battle. He has physio twice a day to remove the mucus that builds up in his lungs as well as using a nebulizer machine twice a day that delivers anti-biotics into his lungs. Brandon also takes around 40 different tablets each day.
Fans may remember that the Football Club held a bucket collection for Gillian when Dale welcomed Cheltenham Town to Spotland in December in a bid to to help her raise the money required to secure her place at the event. Almost £500 was donated on the night, while the Dale Supporters Trust donated a further £100.
Gillian has raised nearly £3,330 in sponsorship so far, but you can still donate by going to the following Just Giving Page - virginmoneygiving.com/GillianBeech
We're also donating all of the proceeds from the sale of tickets for this weekend’s End of Season Awards night to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
