U18s Make It Three In A Week

24 September 2012

Dale’s youth team record three consecutive wins

Dale’s U18s rounded of a good week with a 6-1 win over Accrington Stanley on Friday at Hopwood Hall.

The victory makes it three wins and 15 goals for the youth team in the space of a week following last Saturday’s 7-0 score-line against Bury in the league and the 2-1 win over the Shakers in the Lancashire Youth Cup on Tuesday.

On Friday, Dale took the lead with ten minutes on the clock through Andy Cannon but found themselves down to nine men with just 28 minutes gone after Callum Camps and Darcy O’Connor were shown red for dissent.

Despite being two men short, Rochdale doubled their lead just two minutes later when Cannon netted his second of the afternoon. Accrington Stanley pulled one back on 42 minutes , but this was short lived as Joel Logan headed home from a Scott Tanser free-kick to restore Dale’s two goal advantage.

Logan put the under 18s 4-1 up on 58 minutes before Cannor bagged his hat-trick with a shot from 12 yards on the hour mark.

Ola Rabiu rounded off proceedings with a goal on 84 minutes to give Dale a 6-1 victory.

Youth Team Manager Chris Beech said: “The performance today was excellent especially after going down to 9 men on 28 minutes. The players played with great desire and commitment to score five goals after we had two of the lads sent off.

“In the last three games they have scored 15 goals and conceded three and I must commend them for representing our club in this way and for their style of play which is testament to our hard work.”

Rochdale: Ashley, Martin, Horan, O’Connor, Tanser, Allen, Camps, Cannon, Leigh, Tuanzebe, Logan. Subs: K Masirika, D Whitehall, J Spittle, C Hill, O Rabiu.
