Rochdale AFC's match day announcer Dave Sweetmore to celebrate Beatles anniversary

A message from Rochdale AFC’s Matchday announcer, Dave Sweetmore:

Friday 5th October 2012 will mark the 50th anniversary of the first single release, ‘Love Me Do’, by the greatest and most influential band of all time - The Beatles.

Here at Spotland we have gained a lot of attention, admiration and publicity for the music we play on matchdays, and to celebrate the anniversary of the most famous musical group ever, we will be dedicating the music at our home match against Bradford City on Tues 2nd October to the Fab 4.

The Beatles wrote songs in every genre possible, inventing some along the way, as well as shaping the society we live in, in most senses, mainly music and fashion. The music we listen to now, the way we dress, all stems back to The Beatles influence.

We will be playing Beatles records before and after the match, and at halftime, to celebrate 50 years of the band, and we want you to help us choose which ones to play.

Supporters who want to get involved should send the name of their favourite Beatles records into the club via the official social networking sites (facebook – officiallyrochdale / twitter - @officiallydale), or by emailing leighanne.coyle@rochdaleafc.co.uk

Please send these into the club by 1pm on Monday 1st October so votes can be counted. The songs with most votes will be played at the Bradford game.
