The initial trial of the ‘Supporters Man of the Match Text Vote’ is now over
The voting system, which allows supporters to choose their Man of the Match by text, was introduced for the Dagenham and Redbridge match on September 22nd and has continued at the last three home games, ending with Morecambe on Saturday.
The results so far have shown supporters have agreed twice with the sponsors selection and twice disagreed, which is what we hoped for when we decided to trial the system. Joe Rafferty, Rhys Bennett, Andrew Tutte and Ryan Edwards have been the winners of the text vote so far.
The text vote is a mechanism for the supporters to voice their opinion, have a bit of fun and possibly win a couple of tickets to a future home match. So far, two of the supporters who have been chosen as winners have selected tickets for the Fleetwood match in the Willbutts Lane stand so they are taking the opportunity to perhaps try out a section of the stadium where they have not watched a match from before.
The number of supporters texting their vote has not been as many as we hoped for but it is early days and we will continue to run the service and hopefully see an increase in numbers over the coming weeks and months. As numbers do increase we can then look to introduce more prizes and we have a couple of specials planned with some unique prizes to be won.
In addition, we will be collating the results over the season and there will be an award to the player who receives the most text votes over the season with one supporter being selected to award the player with their accolade at the end of the season.
The service will continue to be promoted on the official Rochdale AFC website, on Twitter and Facebook and on the supporters' site. Details of how to vote will be in every match day programme and why not programme the number 87474 into your directory now. Dave will continue to make announcements throughout our matches so listen out and make your vote and show your support for your man of the match.
