Injury Update

18 October 2012

An update on Luke, Ray and Reece

Manager John Coleman will be without Ray Putterill for at least the next three weeks.

The 23-year-old limped off in last Tuesday night’s encounter against Bury at Spotland with a groin strain and missed Saturday’s match against Morecambe.

Meanwhile, the long-term injured Luke Watson has recovered from the knee injury which has kept him sidelined since August.

The first year professional, who tore his medial ligament, returned to training a week ago and has had no negative reaction.

There has also been some positive news for Reece Gray following a meeting with his surgeon on Tuesday.

Dale physio Andy Thopre is pleased with Reece’s progression: “The simple task of just moving his ankle up and down is a major thing to do after the operation Reece has had, but he has almost got his full range of movement back now. His next step is to work on moving it from side to side and round in circles, but over all his rehabilitation is going really well.

“At the moment Reece is in a walking boot but the surgeon now wants to put him in a lighter cast. This will allow him to get off his crutches within the next couple of weeks which will be a major boost in his recovery.”

Reece dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula during a closed doors game in August.
