Youth Team Remain Unbeaten

Dale's under 18s remain unbeaten so far this pre-season with the side recording impressive results along the way.

The youth team have already been involved in seven pre-season friendly matches, and have scored 25 goals over the seven fixtures.

Notably, the youngsters romped to a 6-0 victory over Bury, while they saw off Everton 5-1.

First year scholar Danny Whitehall who joined the under 18 side following his release from Liverpool has featured in six of the seven friendlies so far, netting ten times.

Youth Team manager Chris Beech is delighted with the way the first and second year scholars have gelled as a group: "They've done great, they're a good bunch of players. They've gelled quickly together, and it is very commendable."

He continued: "Within 5 or 10 minutes of watching Danny Whitehall play you could see that he had the ability, and although he has scored 10 goals, praise must also go to the players who are presenting him with those opportunities. That's down to Darcy O'Connor, Jamie Allan and Scott Tanser, they really are complimenting each other and they've got a real good hard work ethic."

The youth team still have two friendly matches to play before the season starts, Fleetwood Town and Leeds are the opponents (venues tbc).

A full interview with Chris Beech is available on Dale Player now.
