Manager John Coleman has been reflecting on last weekend’s defeat at home to Exeter City and ahead to Saturday’s trip to Aldershot Town.
“I’ve never been 3-0 down in my life at half time at home before and it has happened two weeks running,” said Coleman. “I was more frustrated than anybody because if you look at the York first half performance and the first half performance against Exeter, it was chalk and cheese.
“I thought we played some really good football on Saturday but obviously the goals that we conceded were diabolical and we’ve got to stop that. You don’t have to be an Einstein or a top football manager to realise that we’re not defending well and we haven’t defended well all season. That’s something that we need to do something about, but our actual football was a lot better on Saturday and we passed the ball a lot better.”
This weekend’s opponents have won just once at home this season but Coleman is under no illusion that they’ll pose a tough test: “They (Aldershot) play some excellent football so it’s not going to be an easy game. We’ve not had the best home form but we haven’t lost every home game so it’s not a given that Aldershot are going to lose to us. We’ll have to be at our best on the day.”
