Much has changed since that last meeting, and with the arrival of 15 new faces to Spotland over the summer months, Manager John Coleman takes a new look Dale side to the Proact Stadium for the first away trip of the new season.
Rochdale head into the encounter on the back of Saturday’s well deserved draw at home to Northampton, while Chesterfield will be looking to get off the mark following their 1-0 defeat at the hands of AFC Wimbledon.
Spireites Manager John Sheridan is said to have fully fit squad to choose from for the encounter, while Dale remain without the injured trio of Matty Edwards (wrist), Reece Gray (ankle) and Luke Watson (knee).
Chesterfield were 2-1 winners over Dale when the two teams met back in April. Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro had put Rochdale ahead on 73 minutes, but late goals from Scott Boden and Danny Whitaker saw the Spireites come from behind to snatch victory.
