Grant: It was a no brainer

New signing Bobby Grant can't wait to get started

Transfer deadline day signing Bobby Grant “can’t wait to get started” after agreeing a move to Spotland from League One side Scunthorpe United.

The 22-year-old put pen to paper on a two year deal this morning and is re-united with boss John Coleman who he made more than 60 appearances for at Accrington Stanley.

“As a player you want to be playing football where you are happy and I’m happy to come back to Rochdale,” said Grant who previously spent two months on loan at Dale during the 2010/11 season. “It has been a frustrating two years for me but I have grown as a person, the move up there [to Scunthorpe] was a good experience, I have learnt a lot as a player and as person, and when I got the call off John it was a no brainer.

“I’m looking forward to working with him again. I know what to expect, his standards and the standards of the rest of the players are really high. I’ve come here ambitious and to do my best and I think this team can challenge for the top seven, if not promotion. That played a big part in me coming here as I want to be successful, I want to help Rochdale out and help myself out, and if we put the two together then hopefully we can move up the table.”

Grant appeared six times for Dale during a two month loan spell at Spotland in 2010 and he says he enjoyed his stay last time round: “I had a great time. I scored some goals, the fans were great with me, the staff behind the scenes and everyone around the club were great with me. John Coleman has been positive in getting me back here and I just can’t wait to get started. Hopefully [the paperwork allowing me to play] will go through and I can play tomorrow, but if not we’ll look forward to Tuesday.”

The full interview with Bobby is on DALE PLAYER now.
