Youth Team Report | Wrexham 1-1 Dale

3 September 2018

Apologies, this video is unvailable.

The Youth Team were held to a 1-1 draw at Wrexham on Saturday in the EFL North West Youth Alliance League.

The hosts took the lead inside seven minutes, but Dale equalised through Musambya Kisimba’s stunning strike shortly before the half hour mark.

Dale created a number of chances to take all three points, but were denied by the woodwork and some fine stops from the Wrexham goalkeeper, as they had to settle for a point.

The deadlock was broken early on by the home side, when a left-foot shot from 25-yards found its way into the back of the net.

However, Dale were level inside half an hour, when Kisimba’s fizzing effort from distance dipped under the crossbar.

Florent Hoti was inches away from putting Dale in front when his half volley crashed off the crossbar.

Harrison Hopper was the next to strike the woodwork for Dale from a tight angle, with Lewis Bradley firing over the rebound from close range.

James Neild saw a curling effort turned around the post by the Wrexham goalkeeper after the break, before a goalmouth scramble involving Bradley and Hoti was somehow cleared behind by a defender.

Dale kept the pressure up and Louis White saw a header narrowly flash wide, which Kisimba was inches away from getting a head on, meaning Dale had to settle for a point.
