Youth Team Report | Carlisle United 0-2 Dale

24 September 2018

Apologies, this video is unvailable.

Dale’s Youth Team secured a 2-0 victory at Carlisle United in the EFL North West Youth Alliance League on Saturday.

First-half goals from Fabio Tavares and Toby Phillips were enough to record back-to-back league wins.

Dale almost took the lead in the opening minutes when Musambya Kisimba’s close range effort was saved by the legs of the goalkeeper, before Tavares broke the deadlock with his third of the season.

James Neild saw a header cleared off the line from a corner kick before Louis White also saw a shot blocked, but the ball fell for Tavares who slammed home at the near post to put Dale in front.

The second came shortly before half-time thanks to some superb build-up player. White, Florent Hoti and Tavares were all involved, with the scorer of the first providing a clever through ball for Phillips to latch on to and finish clinically to the far post.

Hoti and Kisimba both fired narrowly over in the second-half, whilst Tavares was denied by a strong stop from the Carlisle goalkeeper.

White struck a post from inside the area as Dale looked to add a third, before substitute Florian Yonsian fired wide after good pressure to pinch the ball off a defender.

The Youth Team now take on Oldham Athletic in the Lancashire FA Professional Youth Cup on Tuesday. Click HERE for full details.
