The Youth Team were beaten 3-0 at Tranmere Rovers in the EFL North West Youth Alliance League on Saturday.
The first-half was a tale of two penalties, as Dale saw one saved before the hosts converted their spot kick.
Florent Hoti, who scored a penalty in midweek against Doncaster Rovers, saw his effort well saved shortly after the half hour mark.
The hosts then went ahead a minute before the break, with Dale stopper Brad Wade going the right way but unable to get to low effort.
Before that, Fabio Tavares and James Neild had been inches away from converting dangerous crosses into the area, whilst Hoti had also seen a strong effort from the edge of the area beaten away.
The hosts doubled their lead shortly after the hour mark with an emphatic finish from just inside the area, before Lewis Bradley fired over and Hoti had a free-kick well held in reply for Dale.
Tranmere made it three in added time, when a long ball forward was nodded over the advancing Wade and into the back of the net.
Dale are back in action next Saturday, with a trip to Shrewsbury Town in the league.
