Match Report | Burnley 1-0 Rochdale - Pre-Season Friendly

1 July 2022

Rochdale’s pre-season friendly schedule kicked-off with a trip to face Burnley at their training ground on Friday afternoon.

The Clarets ran out 1-0 winners at Gawthorpe, in Vincent Kompany’s first game in charge of the side, as Scott Twine’s 13th minute goal proved to be the difference.

Both teams had a couple of shots blocked during the opening exchanges, while Burnley’s Matt Lowton headed over and Trialist A struck over the bar from a free-kick.

The home side broke the deadlock in the 13th minute through summer recruit Twine, who joined the Clarets from MK Dons last week.

Rodney had a shot blocked behind, before Ethan Brierley was denied by a some good defending after he sent a powerful shot at goal having being played in by Rodney.

Up the other end, Cameron John superbly diverted Twine’s powerful strike over the bar, before Jimmy Keohane had a shot blocked.

Twine then headed over the bar before the half was out.
