Preview | Stockport County (A)

21 April 2023

Stockport County vs Rochdale | Sky Bet League Two, Saturday 22nd April 2023, Edgeley Park, 3pm Kick-Off

Dale face the short trip to Stockport County in Sky Bet League Two action on Saturday.

County are unbeaten in ten games and sit in fourth spot, four points behind Stevenage who occupy the final automatic promotion place.

Dale know they must win at Edgeley Park and need results elsewhere to go our way if we are to avoid relegation from the EFL this weekend.

ADMISSION DETAILS

Dale fans will be able to buy tickets on the day at Edgeley Park. There is an away ticket office window and supporters can pay cash or card.

PYRO DETECTION DOGS

There will be a strong police presence around Edgeley Park on Saturday, with pyro dogs located at the away entrance (Gate F).

A pyrotechnic amnesty bin will be at the start of the path leading to the turnstiles, with the detection dogs at the turnstiles themselves.

Anyone found to be in possession of a pyrotechnic will be refused entry with police action taken.

In February, we issued a statement on the dangers of pyrotechnics, following one of our own supporters being taken ill due to the effects of a flare being set off.

Match Reports

Report | Stockport County 1-0 Dale

22 April 2023

Rochdale were relegated from the EFL after a 1-0 defeat at Stockport County.

Isaac Olaofe’s goal in the final seconds of first-half added time proved to be the difference, in a result which confirmed we will be playing National League football next season.

Interim Manager Jim McNulty named an unchanged starting line-up from Tuesday’s game against Tranmere Rovers. There was on change on the bench, as Femi Seriki replaced the injured Toby Mullarkey.

The hosts had the majority of possession in the first period, with efforts from Paddy Madden and Miles Hippolyte being sent off target.

Dale were frustrating the hosts with a disciplined shape, but they were able to create crossing opportunities as Fraser Horsfall and Neill Byrne both sent headers wide.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell made a superb last-ditch block from Ryan Croasdale’s effort, deflecting it over the bar, shortly before Hippolyte and Will Collor headed off target.

The latter was then substituted after a clash of heads with his own teammate, which meant there were eight minutes of added time, and the hosts scored with almost the last touch of the half.

Olaofe received the ball into the area and created space on his right foot, before powering an effort into the far corner.

Dale saw more of the ball after the break, with a nice passing move leading to Lloyd being found in space 20-yards, but his turn and shot ended up over the crossbar.

Croasdale fired a volley well over for the hosts before Devante Rodney and Tyrese Sinclair were introduced as Dale tried to find a route back into the game, with the latter having a cross-shot turned away by goalkeeper Ben Hinchcliffe.

Neither side could really create an opening as the game ended in defeat and ultimately relegation for Dale.

Dale XI | O’Donnell, Keohane, Taylor, Ebanks-Landell ©, Dodgson, Kelly, Brierley, Lloyd, Mellor, Odoh, Henderson.

Subs | Eastwood, Seriki, Ball, Rodney, Graham, Sinclair, John.
