Blackpool v Rochdale | Bloomfield Road, Sky Bet League One, Saturday 6th October 2018, 3pm Kick-Off

Dale travel to the seaside on Saturday, making the relatively short trip to Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road in Sky Bet League One.

The Seasiders have lost just once in the league this season, that defeat coming to table-topping Portsmouth on the second weekend of the season.

They have won three and drawn six from their other nine league games, whilst they have also reached the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

The sides played out a goalless draw last season at Bloomfield Road.

Report | Blackpool 2-2 Dale

6 October 2018

Calvin Andrew’s equaliser three minutes from time earned Dale a 2-2 draw against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

The hosts took the lead five minutes in through Jordan Thompson, before Ryan Delaney equalised three minutes later.

Curtis Tilt put the Seasiders back in front shortly before the half hour mark, and it looked like time was going to run out for Dale before Andrew, on as a substitute five minutes earlier, nodded home the leveller.

Keith Hill made two changes to his starting eleven, as Josh Lillis and Zach Clough both returned to the starting line-up.

Dale were behind inside five minutes, when Thompson nodded home Marc Bola’s cross from the left at the near post beyond Lillis.

However, Dale got themselves back on level terms just three minutes later. Delaney met Bradden Inman’s corner at the near post and powered a right foot volley into the top corner.

Delaney almost found the net again two minutes later, when Inman’s corner looped back up off Sam Hart, who was being held at the near post. Delaney stole in but sent his stooping header wide.

Clough saw a free-kick held, but the hosts got themselves back in front just before the half hour mark, when Tilt rose highest at the back post to nod home a corner, which crossed the line despite the best efforts of a Dale defender who had hooked the ball away.

After the break, both Nathan Delfouneso and Ben Heneghan had headers off target for the hosts, before Hill made a double substitution, introducing Jordan Williams and Andy Cannon for Clough and MJ Williams.

Cannon was involved straight away, linking with Rathbone and Inman, the latter returning the former’s pass, but Rathbone’s shot was well blocked inside the area.

With eight minutes remaining Hill brought on Andrew with his final sub, and just five minutes later the striker had equalised.

Williams set the ball back to Rafferty on the right who crossed first time to the back post, where Andrew’s diving header found the far bottom corner to earn Dale a point.
