Rochdale progressed to the third round of the Emirates FA Cup with a professional 4-0 victory over Slough Town.

Calvin Andrew opened the scoring in the 13^th minute after a positive start from The Rebels, who created some decent chances with Dale’s lead still at one.

However, Callum Camps’ superb free-kick doubled the lead midway through the second-half, and late goals from Ian Henderson and Matty Done secured Dale’s spot in the third round where they will face a trip to Doncaster Rovers.

There were four changes from the Checkatrade Trophy victory over Doncaster Rovers, with Kgosi Ntlhe, Andy Cannon and Dan Adshead dropping out. Jim McNulty missed out through suspension. Joe Rafferty, Ian Henderson, Bradden Inman and Donervon Daniels came in.

After a bright start by the Southern Premier League side, Dale made an early breakthrough after just 13 minutes.

A well-worked move down the left saw Joe Bunney deliver an excellent low ball across goal, where Andrew got ahead of his man and slotted home from six yards out.

It was an important moment for Dale to break the deadlock early on, although Matt Lench could have done better when he headed over the crossbar from 12-yards.

Andrew had a great opportunity to double his tally and Dale’s lead shortly before the half hour mark, only to be denied by Slough goalkeeper Jack Turner.

Bradden Inman’s pressure on Nathan Smart told as he dispossessed the defender, before Andrew picked up on the loose ball and was forced wide. His effort from a tight angle looked goal bound, only for Turner to deflect behind for a corner.

Inman then tested Turner from just outside the area after being found by Joe Rafferty, shortly before Josh Lillis was called into action for the first time at the other end.

A well worked corner routine led to Mark Nisbet finding space at the back post, and his volley was spilled by Lillis before being cleared by Donervon Daniels.

Matty Gillam had a shot blocked behind from just inside the area, and Andrew had another fine chance on the stroke of half-time.

Bunney’s in-swinging corner was met by the forward at the back post, where his powerful header struck the outside of the post and behind.

The hosts best chance of the opening period came in stoppage time, when Smart’s superb cross to the back post was met by Lee Togwell, only for the midfielder to send his diving header wide of Lillis’ right post.

Dale started the second period strongly, with Rafferty testing the goalkeeper from distance, shortly before Ian Henderson struck the woodwork with a half volley.

He latched onto Andrew’s flick on the edge of the area and lashed against the woodwork, with Camps’ follow-up flying wide.

The home side’s best chance of an equaliser came two minutes later, when James Dobson’s flicked header was superbly saved by Lillis down to his left side.

Inman forced Turner into a low save from a tight angle after being found by Henderson, and midway through the second half Dale doubled their lead.

Camps struck a free-kick low from 20-yards out, and the ball swerved away from the Slough goalkeeper and into the far bottom corner.

Inman almost made it three a couple of minutes later after dispossessing a Slough defender and driving into the area, only to see his shot well saved.

The hosts struck the woodwork with little over 15 minutes remaining through right-back Smart, who had broke down the left. His looping effort came back off the underside of the bar and away from danger for Dale.

Henderson had the ball in the back of the net, only for the goal to have been ruled out for an offside flag on substitute Done who had played the ball across goal.

Guy Hollis nodded wide Matt Lench’s superb free-kick, whilst Camps’ dipping free-kick at the other end landed on the roof of the Slough goal.

Dale’s third in the final minute of normal time ensured passage through to the third round, thanks to Henderson’s well worked goal.

Rafferty’s driven cross was met by the head of Andrew, who nodded back across goal to the back post where Henderson smashed home via a defender’s legs.

There was time for a fourth in stoppage time, when BT Sport Man of the Match Andrew played a superb ball through for Done who had timed his run well.

He drove into the area, and struck off the underside of the crossbar to round off the scoring.
