Dale Youth 2 - 2 Carlisle United Youth

Posted on: Tue 31 Aug 2010

Dale's youth team had played out a 2-2 draw with Carlisle United on Saturday 28th August 2010 at Ashton United.

Dale's goals were scored by Tom Bentham with a good header from 6 yards out in the 7th minute and the 2nd goal by Laurie Bell from an attacking corner which he finished by heading it home in the 61st minute of the match.

We caught up with boss Chris Beech after the match. "We had a good start to the game, playing the ball around, probing and pressing our opposition. Scoring as early as the 7th minute was reward for this good start.

After the first 25 minutes we stopped moving and passing and our rhythm changed. Although Carlisle did grow into the game, from our perspective standards dropped individually and this culminated in Carlisle's equaliser. Players need to learn from this especially with the type of football we are trying to portray.

Laurie Bell and Josh Dale were our consistent players again like last Saturday. Laurie Bell scored again but once more we lacked the ability to keep standards at a higher level. Carlisle equalised again and with both teams having chances either side could have won the game. We have started the season with a win, a loss and now a draw in our 3 games. This mirrors our pre-season form and now we are looking for players to be more consistent as a whole while we develop our football philosophy."
