Dale's youth team played Wigan Athletic FC on Saturday 13^th February 2010 at Christopher Park, with the young 'Dale team overcoming Wigan 2-1.

Reece Gray (47) and Callum Byrne (60) scored the goals for Dale capping off a great performance.

Boss Chris Beech gave his views after the match " This was a great result that complimented a great overall performance. Godwin Abadaki, our U16 centre forward, played well and is improving every week. The older scholars were excellent and they responded positively to the news of Chris Brown's contract. Callum Byrne played excellently and over the last two games is beginning to show a real desire to get on the goal sheet. Today that happened with a great drive and shot to win the game. Also, a special mention to Liam Murray as his performances have now moved him on to the next stage of his development. Very well done.".
