Dennis in conversation
We dragged First Year Scholar Striker Dennis Sherriff away from scrubbing boots to talk to us about how life at a professional football club is.
What are all the players like in the youth team?
"They are all great; we always have a laugh and get on. Of course we have our ups and downs. At the end of the day though their always for you, they are really great."
Who do you get on with the best out of all the players?
"Well there are a few like Dave Doherty, Andy Brown, Robert Crank, Matty Ellis and George Bowyer but really all of them."
What was it like being a school boy playing in the reserves with people like Lee Crooks and John Doolan?
"It was really a great experience for me playing with such good professionals especially when you consider that Lee Crooks played at the top level."
What was it like making the step up from being a school boy to a footballer?
"It's unreal, since I was a young boy I have always wanted to be a footballer and now I have done it. It has made my family proud in what I have done with myself."
Is your body keeping up with the physical demands of being a footballer?
"It is really hard, I was working here two days a week last year and sometimes I use to come back at nights but only every now again. It has got really hard since I started properly here but I am really enjoying it. I have started to feel it again but I have become a lot fitter and stronger then I used to be."
